INTERSCHOOL CHALLENGE 2007 SECONDARY STATE FINALS

 

The TBAQ 2007 Interschool Challenge State Finals Secondary Division took place over the last weekend in August at AMF Redcliffe Bowl & Caboolture Bowl.  High schools from all over the state qualified in the first round with the highest scoring school from each of the 10 regions competing in the State Finals. Judging by the bowling ability and sportsmanship during the State Final the future of our sport is in good hands.

The Highest team game during the event was bowled by Ryan Catholic College 1074 with the highest individual game of 268 bowled by Dahle Adams also from Ryan Catholic College. With 76 x 200 games bowled over the 2 day event the Interschool Challenge has become a milestone in the pathway to National Junior President Shield where Queensland reigns supreme.   

 

The competition was close throughout the 2 days with positions not finalised until the last match on Sunday.  Final results were

  2. Windaroo Valley SHS                                             100.5 points
  3. Narangba Valley SHS                                               98   points
  4. Pine Rivers SHS                                                       92.5 points
  5. Trinity Bay SHS                                                        82   points
  6. Harristown SHS                                                       80   points
  7. Morayfield SHS                                                        62.5  points                      
  8. Wynnum SHS                                                          59.5  points
  9. Kenmore SHS                                                         43.5  points
  10. Kepnock SHS                                                          29   points

 

 

Our Champion School for 2007 is Ryan Catholic College from Townsville. This is the first time that the Champion School has come from North Queensland. Congratulations Ryan Catholic College

 

                                    

 

2007 CHAMPIONS – RYAN CATHOLIC COLLEGE - (Dahle Adams, Marissa Schulze, Aaron Nowak, Stacey-Leigh Bragg & Cameron Nowak).

RUNNER UP – WINDAROO VALLEY STATE HIGH SCHOOL - (Phillip Cairn, Brendan Brown, Nick Tinworth, Rochelle Mottlee, Aaron Blair & Carmen Stammers)

3RD PLACE – NARANGBA VALLEY STATE HIGH SCHOOL – (Jessica Hodnett, Tamara Harmsworth, Johanna Hodnett, Jacqueline Hales & Jeffrey Campbell)

An All Star Team was announced, made up of the top 5 averages from the qualifying round and the finals, CONGRATULATIONS to these 5 bowlers.

  3. Cameron Nowak (Ryan Catholic College)                            198.40

TBAQ also conducted a Sportsperson award (voted by the bowlers) for the State Finals and these awards were kindly donated by Tenpin Bowling Australia Ltd. There were 2 categories, Girls winner Rochelle Mottlee (Windaroo Valley SHS) and Boys winner Anthony Bryant (Kenmore SHS).

                                                                  

 

TBAQ’s encouragement award recipients were Jessica Hodnett (Narangba Valley SHS) and Ryan Jarvis (Kepnock SHS). Jessica & Ryan both received a new bowling ball donated by AMF.

TBAQ would also like to congratulate all the 43 schools that participated in the competition for 2007, and look forward to a bigger and more exciting event in 2008.
