Beginner Clinics
Bowler instruction at beginner level. Trained bowling centre staff and accredited coaches are able to deliver this base program. Costs will vary from one bowling centre to another. Costs are linked with the accreditation and training provider of the Presenter.
Beginner bowler services are available through your local Bowling Centre and also TBA registered coach network.
Bowling clinics for bowlers with a Disability, Junior and Youth development programs and talent ID programs are available through TBA and TBAQ Coaching networks by currently registered TBA coaches in Queensland. Costs vary from Presenter to Presenter.
FUN TIPS World First Program
A series of 12 Funtips for social bowlers will be available at selected Licensed bowling centres in Australia and New Zealand please inquire as to the list of licensed centres available.
12 Frame Programs
The 12 Frame Program is based on Master Coach Dick Ritgers’ teaching and is recognised as a world’s best, accelerated learning method of base teaching having bowlers attain high skills in a very short time. The program consists of 6 base skill drills of technique plus a base competence and understanding of strike adjustment formulas and personalised line and angle formulas to assist all bowlers adjust and play the lane condition.
Versions of the 12 frame program include – the 6 frame program (the base skills), the TBA Bowler Proficiency Certificate and also the Fundamental 5 week Funtips program.
Who will deliver the program?
TBA and TBAQ Coaching networks by currently registered TBA coaches in Queensland. Costs vary from Presenter to Presenter.
TBA Bowler Proficiency Certificates
The TBA Bowlers Proficiency Certificate covers basic technique instruction, hitting targets and sparing guidelines.
Duration of Program is 6 - 7 hours.
Who will deliver the program?
TBA Bowling Proficiency Certificate (BPC) may be held at any local centre by qualified presenters* see Queensland Presenter List. The Bowler Proficiency Certificate requirement is for all bowlers and those intending to access athlete or coach accreditation pathways in the port of Tenpin Bowling. Please access the current list of authorised presenters from TBAQ.
The Program includes information on the National Tenpin Organisation (TBA Ltd) and State level Organisation (TBAQ)
Costs: $85 plus lane fees based on a class size of 6
Digital Video Computerised Analysis
TBAQ offers the opportunity to have a DVD or CD recording of individual technique and analysis of that technique.
Q. How do I apply?
A. Provision of this bowler service is arranged by contacting TBAQ – You may forward (by mail or email) digital footage of yourself bowling and send to TBAQ for analysis or ‘In Bowling Centre’ analysis is also available by booking session dates and times with TBAQ to video you at selected centres. TBAQ will provide the cameras, laptop and analysis software to provide you with a personalised record of your bowling.
Groups of 6 are preferred – however individual quotes are available.
Q. What do you get?
You will get a CD or DVD of your digitalized footage with enhancements and coaching advice to work on with your coach or training buddy.
Dartfish Professional Suite software is used when your footage is analysed. (Other software analysis tools may also be used in the analysis.)
Q. What is the cost?
A. Pricing is $50 for a CD or DVD including individual technique analysis

The pricing may be negotiated for large groups in Centre.
Ideal for Representative Teams and Junior and Youth development programs. Currently used in 2006-7 TBAQ North and South Queensland Junior and Youth Development Camps.

North and South Queensland State Development Camps
Q. I am aged under 23 yrs - How do I participate in a State Development camp?
A. Please place your name on a waiting list with TBAQ gail@tbaq.org.au or register your intentions to participate with your Junior and Youth committee for the region you live in.
Q. When are the Camps held?
A. The State Development Camps are run over 2 or 3 days in the June/July holidays each year both in South Queensland and also North Queensland.
Other development programs may be available also through your local junior and Youth Committees.
Q. What happens at the camp?
A. You will receive a bowlers training manual and also if you join in on the camp in progressive years you will be tracked on progress and also assisted to other opportunities within the sport of Tenpin Bowling.
High Performance Programs and Talent ID
TBA High Performance coaches also run development programs incorporating:
On lane skills, Sport Psychology, Fitness and conditioning for Sport and provide National Training Squad modules to athletes with representation teams and athlete pathways inclusion. Please access a list of these Queensland coaches on the TBA website www.tenpin.org.au

TBAQ Skills Certificate
Coaches complete this Certificate via a Workshop with a local Mentor Coach or Quality Assurance Officer. This certificate acknowledged in Queensland towards TBAQ Train the Trainer qualifications to achieve Mentor coach status in Queensland. This Certificate of competency will arm the coach with skills to teach the feelings of bowling to all bowler levels. These certificate levels are assessed by the local Mentor Coach – see list provided. Assessor must be currently accredited with TBA Ltd.
Cost to be advised by local Mentor Coach – 3 hour workshop is normally $20 per participant and coaches then are required to meet quality assurance standards of assessment.
TBAQ Performance Certificate
Coaches complete this level of Workshop with the local Mentor Coach. This certificate, acknowledged in Queensland, toward Sport Specific Tenpin Bowling TBAQ Train the Trainer qualifications to achieve Mentor status in Queensland. This Certificate will indicate competency in teaching a Bowler how to bowl lines and angles using conceptual methods. This level of training prepares a bowler for tournament and all competition bowling.
Cost to be advised by local Mentor Coach – 3 hour workshop is normally $40 per participant and coaches then are required to meet quality assurance standards of assessment.
TBA Beginner Coach accreditation – a one day course
Course duration 7 hours
This course is restricted to instruction on how to coach a beginner Tenpin bowler. Ideal for Teachers, Parents, Bowl staff or Association representatives.
Includes Manual, Photo identification registration, Registration with TBA for 12 months, Presenter fees and Certificate. (please supply two passport size photos to presenter)
Please note: All applicants will be required to possess a blue card from the child protection commission at www.bluecard.qld.gov.au
Cost $120 (Course costs based on a class of 6)
Tenpin Bowling NCAS Level 1 accreditation.
Course duration - 20 Hours plus 10 hours supervised coaching
Identified TBA Level 1 Presenters are available to present courses in Queensland. Please refer to the TBAQ Presenter list provided.
Includes registration with Australian Sports Commission and Tenpin Bowling Australia, Manuals, photo ID and a specialist Presenter.
To speed your accreditation TBAQ advise all prospective coaches to apply for a Child Protection commission Queensland Blue card (cost is free to volunteer coaches) prior to the course. www.bluecard.qld.gov.au

TBAQ Train the Trainer
Course duration - 2 day program.
Compulsory requirement to attain TBAQ Mentor coach status
Train the Trainer is specifically for those coaches who wish to be Coach Educators, Assessors and Quality Assurance Officers in Queensland. The Course includes: 4 modules of training to become a Presenter and Assessor at Certificate 4 Industry standard. It also includes access to TBAQ school bridging programs for training athletes – including the Roll and strike – Aspiring to Excellence models and structured colour coded coaching base programs to assist any level of bowler.
Held in June/July each year. Duration 2 days.
Cost: $399 based on a class size of 6.
TBAQ Mentor Week-end
Mentor Coaches are invited to Coach workshops to view updates from National High Performance Coaching forums as well as updates on State initiatives.
Costs to cover venue, meals and specialist presenters will change from year to year.
TBA NCAS Level 2 Tenpin accreditation
Course duration - 7 day course - November each year when numbers warrant.
TBAQ will provide details as to the course requirements venue and costs. L2 General Principles course is included (value $395)

Note: In some cases your local Queensland Association may be able to subsidise your costs of attending a course – through Local Government Community Development Program funding applications. (Available early August and submitted each September). These funding opportunities need to be organised one year in advance please contact your local Incorporated Tenpin Bowling Association or register your intention with TBAQ.
ASC General Principles of Sport Course Level 2
Course duration - 3 Days – November each year.
The TBAQ State Coaching Director Gail Torrens is an authorised Australian Sport Commission L2 GP Presenter and TBAQ is a registered training provider for this level of training. This course is included in the Queensland L2 accreditation course.
Cost of course $395 per person.

TBA Ball Drilling Course
This is a 2 day Course - please bring an old bowling ball for drilling and also bowling kit to the course.
